Yes. Alliance Renovations builds detached garages, basement renovations, legal suites and concrete in Strathmore, from its office at 6934 36 St NE in Calgary. Strathmore is on the Trans-Canada Highway east of Calgary, and the Town of Strathmore issues the permits.
Strathmore is a town of 14,339 people (2021 census) in Wheatland County, on Highways 1 and 817. It began as a hamlet on the Canadian Pacific Railway line built in 1883, and the Strathmore Stampede runs every August long weekend.
Its housing spans the decades: 23.1% of occupied homes were built between 1991 and 2000, and 17.5% between 2006 and 2010.

Not as a listed use. On June 4, 2025, Strathmore Council adopted Bylaw 25-09, removing garden and garage suites from the Land Use Bylaw. You can still apply, but Council decides each one on a site-specific basis. Secondary suites inside a house are a discretionary use.
Development, building and utility permits are all required for a secondary suite in Strathmore. Suites are a discretionary use, so the Town circulates the proposal to neighbours before approving the development permit. An ordinary basement development needs building and utility permits.
