A garage addition adds space to what you already have: an extra bay, a longer garage, a workshop, or a new garage added to your property. Alliance Renovations has built garages in Calgary since 2008 and handles the concrete, framing, roof, siding, doors and electrical for an addition as one project.
Most garage additions start with the same question: will the new part match the old one? The concrete, the roof line and the siding all have to tie in, and the slab has to meet the old one at the right height.
Alliance does the concrete itself, which is where the company started in 2008, then the framing and finishing on top.
An addition has to work with what is already there, so it starts with a careful look at the old garage.

Additions to a garage follow the same City rules as a new garage. The rules, with sources.
A detached garage bigger than 10 m² (107 sq. ft.) needs a building permit. The City puts the review at about 7 days, and a building permit expires 180 days after it is issued.

Often, yes. It depends on your lot, the existing slab and how the roof can tie in, and on what the City allows for your property. Alliance looks at all of it on a free assessment, then gives you a transparent quote with the costs broken down.
That is the goal of the assessment. Alliance looks at the slab height, the roof line, the siding and the doors, then plans the addition to tie in with what is there. If matching is not possible, you hear it before any work starts.
It depends on the condition of the garage you have and how much more room you need. An addition keeps a sound garage and adds space; a new garage starts fresh. Alliance builds both, so the free assessment can compare them on your lot.
Payments are made in stages as the build moves forward, and each one is tracked in your Buildertrend portal. Joshua called the stage payment process very helpful, and Nikolay said the total he paid was exactly what was agreed in the quote.
